WORK PROCESS
I was raised in Brooklyn NY, the energy and diversity of the city fed my creative side . The smells of island foods wafting through the air, the music playing from the cabbies radios, the woman speaking in polish as she swept the stairs on the stoop, embraced me on a daily basis.
In the summer all the apartment windows would be open to fight the city heat. It was through these windows that bits and pieces of my neighbors private lives would come spilling out . Hearing the arguments between Mr. and Mrs. Santiago, or the one sided conversation of Lisa and her best friend fed my imagination and I wrote their stories. That begining is how I write today, I imagine an apartment building with people waiting for me to tell their stories.
Abstract painting soothes the savage beast. It is the medium that gets my characters talking.
I write because I am compelled to do so and I paint because it brings me peace.
